A Borderless TV Mirror Designed to Disappear — Delivered in Time for the World Cup

The engineering team at the Four Seasons Hotel on One Dalton Street in Boston wished to achieve the effect of a 75-inch television without having a large black screen dominate the room when it was not in use.

ClearView Innovations has produced a special 75-inch borderless TV mirror that changes from an elegant framed mirror into a full-size Samsung QLED television when it is switched on.

To have the finished piece ready before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the project needed custom glass, precise frame construction, a built-up shadow box, and an accelerated production schedule.

In high-end hospitality environments, large televisions present a special challenge.

Having them on is a benefit in terms of size, but when they’re off, the identical 75-inch black rectangle can still dominate a well-designed interior.

The team from Four Seasons wanted both experiences.

When entertainment was the priority they wanted the guests to have access to a large-format 75-inch television, but at all other times the appearance of a decorative framed mirror was to be preserved.

The construction of the Borderless TV Mirror by ClearView made this possible.

If the television is off, the completed item looks like an elegant mirror within a frame; but when it is turned on, the image from the television becomes the main feature of the opening.

The Project: Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street, Boston

In July 2025 the engineering team from Four Seasons got in touch with ClearView in order to look into the possibility of integrating a 75-inch television into the hotel’s interior.

The team considered various frame styles, the requirements for mounting, the dimensions, and two different methods of constructing the TV Mirror.

A major decision was whether to produce a traditional TV Mirror with a visible mirror section around the television or to use ClearView’s borderless design.

For the project, Borderless provided the better cleaning solution.

The aim was not to produce a giant architectural mirror with a television placed somewhere in it, but rather to hide the television itself.

The distinction had a determining effect on the entire design.

The Challenge

Concealing a Large-Screen TV Without Sacrificing the Viewing Experience

Traditional designs for TV mirrors can have a large area of reflective mirror surrounding the picture of the television. This is particularly effective when the mirror is meant to be the main architectural feature.

Four Seasons were looking for something different.

The finished piece needed to:

• Conceal a full 75-inch television when powered off
• Preserve the full visual impact of the television when powered on
• Complement the surrounding luxury interior
• Accommodate the depth and structure of the television
• Integrate a substantial decorative frame without distracting from the screen
• Meet an accelerated production deadline once the project was reactivated

The viewing experience would have been altered by a big reflective border around the television that was active.

The Borderless design of ClearView caused the frame to appear as if it ended at the area in which the television was viewed.

The ClearView Solution

Custom Borderless TV Mirror Construction

ClearView designed the final assembly to meet exactly the specifications for the television, mirror glass, frame, and mounting required by the project.

The system included a 75-inch Samsung Q8F QLED 4K Smart TV together with a custom-made TV mirror glass which was sized to match the television closely.

Instead of having a wide mirror border visible around the picture, the Borderless design causes the decorative frame to meet the area being viewed.

The result creates two distinct experiences:

If the television is off, the guests will see a decorative mirror which is framed and suitable for the surrounding interior.

If the television is on, the mirror appears to move away and the entire 75-inch television then becomes the main feature.

The frame also needed to be specially fabricated; ClearView chose a Larson Tate Silver 2 1/4-inch frame and shaped the moulding around the TV Mirror assembly in order that the television bezel and the mirror glass could be properly hidden.

A shadow box of custom design was also constructed above the frame and extended out to the depth needed by the television.

Because the television is so large, it is important that the construction features contribute to the finished system looking purposeful rather than just having glass put in front of a TV.

Then Came the Deadline

The design process which had originally started in July 2025 was finally put on hold.

Nearly a year later, in May 2026, Four Seasons contacted ClearView again.

The project was progressing — there being now an extra requirement.

They wanted the TV Mirror to be finished in time for the FIFA World Cup.

For Brian Walter, who has always played soccer and is therefore President of ClearView, the request made the project particularly memorable.

“I grew up playing soccer — Texas state champion U-10, go Plano Patriots!, peaked early,” Walter jokes. “Years later, I still remember seeing the World Cup Trophy on display at a tournament. So when Four Seasons called and said they needed this TV Mirror completed in time for the World Cup, there was no way I was letting that deadline slip.”

The production team at ClearView rescheduled the programme, arranged the custom frame, finalised the Borderless construction, and took the project through production without the shortened time scale having any effect on another customer’s order.

Within weeks of the project’s reactivation, the completed 75-inch TV Mirror was ready for oversized commercial freight delivery to Boston.

The Result

When the mirror is off, the television is on.

The finished installation was the combination which the Four Seasons engineering team had been working towards from the start.

A decorative mirror complements the room when entertainment isn’t needed.

Turn on the Samsung television, and a crisp 75-inch picture emerges through the specialty TV mirror glass without a large reflective border competing with the image.

The technology is available when guests want it and visually recedes when they don’t.

And after a project that began almost a year earlier, ClearView accelerated production and had the finished piece ready ahead of the World Cup deadline.

For Walter, the project demonstrates what custom manufacturing at ClearView is intended to provide.

“They first came to us almost a year before they actually placed the order. Then when they were ready, they needed it in a couple of weeks. We moved some things around, made sure nobody else’s project was late, and got it done. That’s what we do here at ClearView.”

Why Borderless TV Mirrors Work for Hospitality Spaces
